North Quabbin Citizen Advocacy presents: Valuing Lives Film Screening Wednesday, May 22, 2019 Workers Credit Union 32 New Athol Rd, Orange 4:00 -6:00 pm Discussion to follow Join us for Valuing Lives, a documentary about Wolfe Wolfensberger, a professor and change agent who triggered the paradigm shift in the 1970's popularizing and expanding the principle of normalization for persons with developmental disabilities. Through archival images and footage, and dozens of interviews, Valuing Lives explores the principle of normalization, an idea that challenged our fundamental assumptions about people with intellectual disabilities, and the iconoclastic professor whose intense, multi-day workshops trained thousands of human services professionals in the theory and practice of this idea. Immediately after worship, we will move outside to the common for an ecumenical service of remembrance at 11:15AM. If you wish to have a loved one remembered by name, please fill out the form in the picture below and return it to the church office with a small donation made out to Athol Congregational Church, memo line: Veterans. All donations received will go towards funding the free Veteran’s breakfast which will be held in the fall.

Please join us this Sunday from 12:30 - 1:30 for a program celebrating the ministry of Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor. We have all learned so much from her, and alongside her, and we’d love to have the community join us in celebrating her! Refreshments will follow.

The 16th Annual Foodathon is scheduled for May 21 from 6AM to 6PM. This community has been very generous over the years. In the 15 years, the North Quabbin community donated over $414,000 and close to 250,000 items if food. 100% of all proceeds go to five local food pantries; Athol Salvation Army, Our Lady Immaculate, Franklin County Community Meals Program, St. Vincent de Paul at St. Mary’s Church and Wendell Good Neighbors. You can watch the Foodathon on AOTV Channel 1301 or listen on WVAO 105.9FM. Just a couple of spots needed to help with the foodathon on May 21, Market Basket. Call Dan Parsons to confirm your spots. Caprice Bachelder is giving the Leadership Club at ARMS a helping hand to get ready for "Green Clean Athol" Town clean up day on Saturday, April 27 from 9 - 12 . Meet at the Millers River Park at the Athol Library for directions and areas that need special attention. There will be a Celebration when we return at noon for snacks, music, and a special recognition of work well done when many hands pitch in to help. There will be lots of room to add your hand to the giant poster too!
